The Elonga app syncs movement data from Google Fit (Android) and Apple Health (iOS).
In some cases, it may seem that the number of steps shown in Elonga does not match the step count on your smartwatch or in these apps.
This is not an error. It is usually caused by the way Google Fit and Apple Health categorize activities.
1. Why don’t the steps match exactly?
Both platforms automatically classify certain types of movement as medium or high intensity activities, not as regular steps.
This typically applies to:
brisk walking,
sports activities (running, tennis, hiking, dancing…),
interval workouts,
activities with increased heart rate or cadence.
What happens in Elonga?
These activities are imported as burned calories (kcal) under Medium or High intensity, rather than as steps.
Because of this, it may look like Elonga shows fewer steps, even though the activity was correctly recorded.
2. How can I tell this is happening?
If an activity is categorized in Google Fit or Apple Health as more intense movement:
in Elonga it will appear in the Plan section as Medium or High intensity,
instead of step counts, you will see kcal.
This is standard behavior. Elonga simply follows the structure of the data provided by Google Fit / Apple Health.
3. Can I edit the data if it doesn’t match my expectations?
Yes — in the Plan section you can:
open and edit the activity,
change the type or intensity,
manually add steps if needed.
If an activity is missing entirely, you can also add it manually.
4. Does this affect HRV measurement results?
No- it does not affect HRV, Recovery, or Stress results.
Step and activity synchronization is used only to complete and evaluate your movement plan.
5. When should you contact support?
Please contact our support team, if:
steps or activities do not sync at all over a longer period,
synchronization has completely stopped working,
data is incorrect even for regular walking,
you suspect a technical issue with the integration.
We will be happy to investigate and help resolve the issue.
