Apple Health sync is not working

The Elonga app allows automatic synchronization of activity data from Apple Health.
If the data is not being imported or the connection has stopped working, it is usually due to missing permissions, outdated authorization, or technical limitations when the app is running in the background.

1. Most common reasons why Apple Health sync doesn’t work

Synchronization may fail due to:

  • Elonga being disconnected in Apple Health,

  • Apple Health being disconnected in the Elonga app,

  • missing permissions for reading/writing data,

  • invalid cache or outdated authorization stored in the app,

  • the phone restricting background activity,

  • first synchronization not yet completed (may take a few minutes after connecting).

2. How do I know the synchronization isn’t working?

In the app, you may notice:

  • missing steps or activities in the Plan section,

  • no new data imported from a certain date,

  • Elonga showing an error when connecting to Apple Health,

  • the connection appearing active in settings, but no data arriving.

Important:
Activity synchronization does not affect HRV measurement results, it only fills movement activities into the Plan section.

3. Recommended step-by-step procedure

Step 1: Disconnect Apple Health from Elonga

Do this in both places:

In Apple Health:
Settings → Privacy → Health → Apps → Elonga → turn off access / remove the app.

In the Elonga app:
In settings, disable Apple Health connection.

This removes old or invalid authorizations.

Step 2: Clear data and cache of the Elonga app

On your phone:

Settings → Apps → Elonga

Tap:

  • Clear data

  • Clear cache

You will not lose any data stored in your Elonga account.

Step 3: Reinstall the Elonga app

Reset the app – Quick Guide

  • Uninstall the app

  • Restart your phone

  • Install Elonga again from the App Store

  • Reconnect Apple Health and allow all permissions

Step 4: Wait for the first synchronization

After reconnecting, syncing may take a few minutes.
This is normal behavior for Apple Health.

4. Additional recommendations

  • Make sure Motion & Fitness access is enabled.

  • Check that battery saving or background restrictions are off.

  • If sync fails only on one device, try reconnecting on another iPhone.

  • If some steps are missing, Apple Health may categorize them under another activity (e.g., brisk walking → medium intensity).

5. When should you contact support?

Please reach out to our support team if:

  • synchronization still does not work after all steps,

  • the app reports a connection error,

  • data syncs only partially or with significant delay,

  • the connection cannot be activated at all.
